MESSAGE FROM MINISTRY OF PRIMARY RESOURCES AND TOURISM, BRUNEI

In its 53rd year of maintaining peace and unity among its 10 member states, ASEAN marches on in its quest to strengthen intergovernmental harmony and cooperation in a unified region that has come to be recognised as a singular tourist destination in the eyes of the world.

Themed “ASEAN: Together Towards A Next Generation of Travel”, ATF 2020 aims to reinforce ASEAN’s mission and objectives that were set out in 1967. One of the major trade forces which have made a significant impact in realising this mission is tourism, with its positive contributions to the region’s socio-economic development. As we look towards the next decade of a more prosperous and relevant ASEAN, member states must continue to collectively innovate and seek meaningful initiatives to increase tourism growth while retaining the heritage, tradition and identity that make us unique for future generations.

This 2020, with Brunei Darussalam hosting the ATF, we welcome you to explore a country where you can trek into unspoilt rainforests and experience the tranquil beauty of our lush greenery, as well as dive amongst abundant coral reefs and historic shipwrecks. Your Bruneian adventure awaits!

Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, Brunei

THE ABODE OF PEACE

Located North of Borneo, Brunei is one of the world’s most prosperous countries, yet one of the smallest. Its bustling capital Bandar Seri Begawan is responsible for the production of furniture, textiles, handicrafts and timber – key economic drivers of the nation’s wealth. The destination thrives in its tropical climate with an abundance of lush forests and beautiful beaches. There is much to see while in Brunei and that would include, the iconic Kampong Ayer settlement, the upbeat Gadong area and the architectural marvel that is the Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque.
